Dr. Beatrice Elohor Ifie is a plant breeder with research focus on improving crop varieties for high yield, nutritional qualities, and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses in tropical environments using innovative plant breeding approaches. Beatrice is a Lecturer at the University of Ghana (UG) and the Leader, Maize Breeding Programme at the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), UG. She is the Treasurer of the African Plant Breeders Association (APBA). She developed curricular materials for seed science and technology and plant breeding courses at Masters and PhD level respectively at UG. She was a Research Fellow at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria. Beatrice was a Visiting Scientist at Dow Agrosciences, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. She is an alumna of the African Plant Breeding Academy (AfPBA)-Class III of the University of California, Davis, USA. She collaborated with Mentors at Iowa State University, USA to develop Instructor Guides and Applied Learning Activities for the Plant Breeding E-Learning in Africa (PBEA). Beatrice is a member of the research team at WACCI that released three hybrid maize varieties. Beatrice received her B.Sc. Botany and M.Sc. Agronomy (Crop Science) degrees from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and Ph.D. (Plant breeding) from University of Ghana, Legon. Beatrice is passionate about plant breeding
